The Torpedo Factory Art Center is located along the Potomac River in Alexandria, VA. Founded in 1974 in an old munitions plant, the Torpedo Factory Art Center is home to the nation’s largest collection of working-artists’ open studios under one roof. Last night, this unique and historical venue was the backdrop for Caitlin & Lars’s wedding and celebration. The ceremony began at 6:30 pm and was held on the same floor as the reception space. After saying “I do”, and as Ray LaMontage’s “You Are The Best Thing” started for the recessional, the newlyweds led their guests to the 3rd floor of the Art Center for cocktails and other treats. Everyone eventually made their way back down to the 1st floor where the ceremony space had been changed over into a beautiful reception area. Caitlin’s Father welcomed family and friends prior to the stations style meal provided by Main Events Catering opening. A toast by Lars’s Best Man, Kyle preceded the Bride & Groom’s first dance to “Are You With Me” by Easton Corbin and a Father-Daughter dance to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. The party really got going after that with DJ Frank spinning requests by Flo Rida, Baby Bash, Journey, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Sia, Neil Diamond and many more. The newlyweds are planning a move to San Diego and requested that 2 Pac’s “California Love” be played for their last song. It was the perfect choice as the dance floor was packed! Great couple, wonderful vendors and a unique venue made for an all around excellent night. Thanks to the ladies from Brielle Davis Events for helping us keep the flow, our friends from Photography by Brea for capturing last night’s magic and memories, Main Events Catering for the yummy eats, the nice people at the Torpedo Factory Art Center for the hospitality during our first event at their venue and of course to Caitlin & Lars for being awesome!
